Clausen Earns All-Conference Honors in Day Two of

HOUSTON, Texas (www.UCFAthletics.com) - An all-conference performance from Jenny Clausen (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) highlighted UCF's accomplishments in day two of competition at the 2007 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Clausen, who owns three of the school's freshman distance records, earned all-conference honors by taking second in the 10,000-meter run at 35:53.98.

Also performing well, sophomore Sheree Carter took fourth place in the heptathlon after earning a personal-best 4,512 points, an effort that also ranks third all-time at UCF. Junior Tia Harewood (Wyandach, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East HS) collected a personal-best 4,090 points for seventh place.

In the throws, freshman LaKendra Thames (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange HS) claimed fourth place in the shot put with a toss of 45-feet, 7.75 inches followed by junior co-captain Virginia Traynor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian HS) in sixth at 44-10.25.

Freshman redshirt Jamie Rzepecki (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora HS) also contributed points toward UCF's bid for the overall C-USA title as she took sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:16.38.

Other evening events on the track were preliminary races with the top eight finishers advancing to Saturday's finals. Junior Victoria Chin (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge HS) posted the fourth fastest time in the 100m hurdles at 14.39 then won her heat in the 400m hurdles at 61.70. Joining her in the 400m hurdle finals is sophomore Natalie Braddock (Callahan, Fla./West Nassau HS).

The Knights enter the final day of competition with 26 points, which ranks third in the team standings. Host Rice is first with 51 points, while UTEP is second with 33 points.

The 2007 C-USA Championship concludes Saturday, May 12 at Wendel D. Ley Track on the Rice University campus.
