ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF spirit program will be holding open auditions for the cheerleading squad at the campus' education building, beginning Friday, May 11 through Sunday, May 13.
The cheerleading team, which typically includes 16 men and 16 women, supports the Knights at home football and men's and women's basketball games and volleyball matches and acts as ambassadors for UCF in numerous community outreach appearances each year.
Considered one of the premier programs in the country, UCF won the national cheerleading championship in both 2003 and 2007. The Knights have appeared on the ESPN Championship show every year since 1994 and have finished in the top three eight of the last 14 years.
Anyone who is a full time student at UCF or has received a letter of acceptance may tryout. This includes incoming freshmen and transfer students. Current UCF students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be free of any academic or disciplinary probation.
Auditions begin Friday, May 11 at 3 p.m. in the UCF Education Gym. Tryouts continue at University Cheer Force Gym on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Prior to attending, all interested students should contact head coach Linda Gooch at (407) 823-2143 and fill out the tryout packet available on the spirit program website at UCFAthletics.com.
