ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sophomore Dinah Schierer (Stuart, Fla.) was selected to appear on the cover of American Cheerleader magazine as its cheerleader of the month for the May/June issue.
"It's such a great feeling," said Schierer. "I have been reading the magazine since I was in high school, so to be chosen for the cover was a real honor."
Schierer was one of several finalists to be brought in for the photo shoot, but she and her Knights teammates only recently discovered that she was selected as the focus. An article about Schierer's experience as a UCF cheerleader is featured inside the magazine.
"Dinah is the complete package," said UCF head coach Linda Gooch. "Not only is she talented in the technical aspects of college cheerleading but she is a joy to work with from a coaching perspective. She has the love and respect of her team members and volunteers her time to gives back to the Central Florida community, making her a wonderful mentor for our UCF cheerleaders and a great role model."
A marketing major, Schierer is currently working along side teammates Lauren Whitt (Orlando, Fla.) and Brian White (Springfield, Mo.) as a extra on the movie Bring It On: In It To Win, which is being filmed at Universal Orlando.
Also featured in this issue as part of American Cheerleader's summer camp photo shoot are UCF freshmen cheerleaders Kimmy Barker (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Kendall Wulff (Winter Park, Fla.).
