DeLand, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - In its last regular-season road match of 2007, the UCF women's tennis team came through with a 5-2 victory over Stetson in DeLand, Fla., Friday afternoon. The win was head coach Patricia Allison's 100th career coaching triumph, all of which have come as the leader of the Golden Knight program.

With the victory, UCF improved its overall record to 9-6 on the season, while Stetson fell to 10-11.

Doubles opened up the day's action and the Knights stole the show. Junior Anna Yakimchenkova and sophomore Elvira Serrot stretched their record to 15-9 overall with an 8-3 win at No. 1 over Anna Leonenko and Katherine Nowicki. At No. 2, junior Kyla McNicol and sophomore Kenza Belbacha extended their winning streak to 10 by defeating Samantha Lange and Valentina Galbarini, 8-4. Senior Becky Gordon and junior Jennifer Carati also came home with a victory, outlasting Katherine St. Clair and Breanna Atkinson at No. 3, 8-4.

Although most of the matches were close, UCF continued to shine in singles play to lock up the overall win. McNicol used her momentum in doubles to keep another streak alive, claiming her 10th-straight singles match by edging Nowicki at No. 4, 7-6, 6-3. Yakimchenkova also used just two sets for her win, defeating Leonenko at No. 3, 7-5, 6-2.

UCF picked up two more points by way of a couple three-set performances. At No. 1, Serrot notched a come-from-behind victory with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 effort over Galbarini. Senior Megan Hunter posted a point for the Knights as well, getting past Catherine Canady at No. 5, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
