UCF Women's Tennis Takes on Stetson and Marquette

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Head coach Patricia Allison is searching for her 100th career win as the UCF women's tennis team travels to DeLand, Fla., on Friday to take on Stetson at 2:30 p.m., then meets Marquette on Sunday at the UCF Tennis Complex at 11 a.m. Allison is currently 99-63 in her eighth season as the leader of the UCF program.

UCF (8-6) has had a long history with Stetson, meeting the Hatters a total of 41 times in the past resulting in a 15-26 record. The last match between the two schools occurred April 8, 2006, with a 5-2 UCF victory.

Junior Golden Knight Kyla McNicol is currently on a nine-game winning streak with a 12-2 record overall in singles play. McNicol was also named the C-USA tennis player of the week on March 27.

Stetson is 10-10 overall and 8-4 at home on the season. The Green and White have had several 7-0 victories this season with shutouts over Lipsconb, Memphis, Kennesaw State and Delaware. The Hatters are led by juniors Anna Leonenko and Catherine Canady who set the Stetson school record in 2006 for single-season doubles wins with 18.

Marquette is 9-10 on the season with big wins over Rutgers, Brown and Syracuse. The Golden Eagles are led by junior Shannon Brown who is currently on a 10-match winning streak.

After this week, the Golden Knights will finish off their regular season with two home matches. UCF will meet Rollins College in an exhibition match on Thursday, April 12, and Louisville on Monday, April 16.
