UCF: 27-16, 6-6 C-USA
Stetson: 30-13, 4-2 ASC

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - With a huge series win over Conference USA foe Marshall under its belt, the UCF softball team will be traveling to DeLand, Fla. to take on the Stetson Hatters on April 4. The first pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Previewing Stetson

The Hatters are 30-13 in 2007, with wins coming against teams such as Maine, Syracuse, Dartmouth, South Florida and East Tennessee State. Stetson is led in the circle by Erica Demers, who possesses a 12-4 record and a 1.61 ERA. In 104.2 innings pitched, the sophomore has allowed only 24 earned runs and has 87 strike outs. Offensively, Sherrel Fountain is tops for the Hatters as she is batting .366 (48-for-131) with 19 stolen bases.

Remember When...

Wednesday's match-up marks the 13th meeting between the two teams and the second meeting of 2007. Back in February, the Hatters downed the Knights 3-2 at the UCF Softball Complex, scoring a run in the first inning and using a two-run sixth inning to seal the victory. Kacie Feaster had three hits in the contest and one of the Black and Gold's two RBI. UCF outhit Stetson, 8-7, but left six runners on base compared to four for the Hatters.

Seeing Double

Lindsay Dean's bat could not be contained in the Knights' series with Marshall. The sophomore catcher hit an unheard of .800 (4-for-5) on the weekend, with three doubles while scoring two runs. Dean now leads all hitters in Conference USA in doubles in league games with five.

Keep on Improving

With two wins over Marshall last weekend, UCF moved up to a tie for third in the Conference USA standings. Both UCF and Marshall are 6-6 in the league following their match-up March 31-April 1.

K is for Kime

Allison Kime is only six strikeouts away from breaking Dottie Cupp's UCF career mark of 403 whiffs. The junior has accumulated 176 strikeouts in 2007, combined with her total of 222 from a year ago for a career total of 398.

Nothing to It

Breanne Javier had the game winning RBI in the Black and Gold's nine-inning victory over Marshall with a triple down the left field line. The triple was the first of the season for the first baseman.

This is Why We're Hot

UCF is 9-0 when it scores six or more runs in a contest and 7-1 when it hits one home run in a game. The Golden Knights are 24-8 when they outhit an opponent and 22-4 when they score first.

Make You Sweat

Allison Kime makes opposing teams work hard to score, or even get on base, as she has allowed a mere three earned runs in her last 82.1 innings pitched. The fire-baller has also allowed only 30 hits in her last 11 appearances, allowed only 14 walks and struck out an astounding 97 batters.

Better Late Than Never

Hillary Barrow has been swinging a hot bat in the second half of this season. In the last 15 games, the freshman has recorded 11 of her 14 RBI, 19 of her 32 hits and has scored eight of her 13 runs. Barrow has also hit her 2007 total six doubles in her last nine contests. The second baseman has not struck out in her last 50 at-bats.

No Hits for You

In Sunday's match-up with Marshall, Allison Kime did not allow a single hit to the Thundering Herd with runners on base in six opportunities.

I Like It, I love It, I Want Some More of It

Kacie Feaster has recorded a hit in 32 of the Black and Gold's 43 games, including 13 multi-hit performances.

Selfless Acts

The Knights used six sacrifice bunts in their 7-0 victory over Marshall on Sunday, which tied the UCF single-game record for most in a game. Megan Murphy and Breanne Javier laid down two sacrifice bunts in the game, while Ashleigh Cole and Amber Lamb also added one apiece.

Lambing it Up

Amber Lamb had an outstanding weekend series against Marshall, registering four hits, one being a home run in the Black and Gold's come-from-behind victory on Saturday, raked in seven total bases while scoring two runs.

This Day in UCF Softball History

April 4- the Knights hold a 3-1 record on this date. In 2003, UCF split a doubleheader with Lipscomb; winning game one, 13-2, before dropping the second game, 9-5. The next year, the Black and Gold swept a doubleheader from Gardner-Webb, 6-0 and 7-0.
