ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's varsity eight remained at No. 9 and the lightweight stayed at No. 6 in the most recent national polls released by USRowing on Wednesday.
The Knights earned 282 points to retain the No. 9 spot in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll. In fact, the top 10 stayed the same as last week as Southern California was No. 1 followed by Brown, Ohio State, Yale, Virginia. The bottom half consisted of Notre Dame, Princeton, Minnesota, UCF and Tennessee.
The USRowing Lightweight Eight Collegiate Coaches Poll also mirrored the previous week's rankings. After being tied at the No. 1, Wisconsin edged Princeton by six points to take sole possession of the top spot. Stanford stayed at No. 3 with Harvard at No. 4 and Georgetown at No. 5. The Knights had 112 points to remain at No. 6.
The NCAA also released its first regional polls of the season late Tuesday. With 58 total points, UCF was ranked third in the South Region behind No. 1 Virginia (72 pts.) and No. 2 Tennessee (67), while Louisville (56) was fourth.
The Knights' varsity eight and varsity four each claimed the No. 3 spot in their respective polls and the second varsity eight was fourth in its group
