Women's Track and Field Inks Boca Raton's Ziccardi to NLI

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's track and field team signed Boca Raton, Fla. native Vanessa Ziccardi to a National Letter of Intent (NLI), Knights' head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth announced on Thursday.

A pole vaulter who competes for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Ziccardi was the Broward County Athletic Association South Central Division Champion this spring. She also won the district and regional titles before finishing fifth at the state meet as a junior. Her personal best mark stands at 11-feet.

"I am pleased to have Vanessa join our team," said Mansur-Wentworth, who is currently in her 13th season as head coach of the Knights. "She will be a strong asset in the event for UCF."

The Knights continue their 2007 season at the Auburn Invitational on Saturday, April 21 before playing host for the Golden Knight Twilight on Saturday, April 28, beginning at 2 p.m.
