Spirit Program to Hold Tryouts for KnightMoves, Team Knightro

April 13, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF spirit program will be holding open auditions for the KnightMoves dance team and Team Knightro mascot squad on campus, beginning Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22.

KnightMoves, which consists of 15-20 women, supports the UCF athletic teams at home football and men's and women's basketball games and volleyball matches and acts as ambassadors for UCF in numerous community outreach appearances each year.

Additionally, the squad competes in the Division I-A national championship and has finished in the top 10 every year since 2001.

Meanwhile, Team Knightro typically consists of 4-6 students who perform in costume at all home and away football games, home men's and women's basketball games, pep rallies and special events. Knightro also attends summer mascot camp and competes in the annual college mascot national championships.

Prior experience for either KnightMoves or Team Knightro is not required. Anyone who is a full time student at UCF or has received a letter of acceptance may tryout. This includes incoming freshmen and transfer students. Current UCF students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be free of any academic or disciplinary probation.

Auditions for both opportunities kick off Friday, April 20 in the UCF Education Gym. KnightMoves tryouts begin at 3:30 p.m., while Team Knightro starts at 4 p.m.

Prior to attending either session, all interested students should contact head coach Linda Gooch at (407) 823-2143 and fill out the tryout packet available on the spirit program website at UCFAthletics.com.
