Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The 35th ranked UCF Men's Golf Team will travel to Tempe, Ariz. this Friday to compete in the 2007 ASU Thunderbird Invitational. Tournament play begins on Friday, April 13, and will continue through Sunday, April 15 at the Karsten Golf Course (Par 72, 7,037 yards) in Tempe, Ariz.
UCF finished eighth out of 16 teams last year at this event, scoring their lowest round on the season with a 4-under-par 280. Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) was the top finisher for the Knights tying for 15th place at the tournament.
This years line-up for the Golden Knights will include Forest along with, sophomore Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Nease), freshmen Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian) and Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal/The Pendleton School) and junior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) who is also a veteran to the tournament finishing in a tie for 44th place last year at the event.
UCF will be competing against four Golfstat top-25 ranked teams including No. 4 Southern California, No. 6 UNLV, No. 10 Texas A&M and No. 18 ASU. The rest of the 15-team field includes Arizona, Baylor, California, UCF, Fresno State, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, San Diego State and Texas Tech.
