Peppers Named to All-C-USA Second Team

March 5, 2007

IRVING, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior forward Josh Peppers (Memphis, Tenn./Whitehaven) of the UCF men's basketball team was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team, the league office announced Monday. Peppers helped the Golden Knights (22-8, 11-5 C-USA) to a second-place finish in the C-USA regular-season standings.

During league play, Peppers averaged 15.3 points per game, good for seventh in the league. He scored in double-figures in 13 of UCF's 16 C-USA contests. In league action, he was also among the conference leaders in field-goal (46.9), free-throw (77.1) and 3-point field-goal (37.7) percentage.

On Saturday in UCF's final regular-season game, Peppers poured in 25 points in the Golden Knights' 77-64 home victory over East Carolina. He scored 20 points or more on five occasions during C-USA play. On the year, the Memphis, Tenn. native is averaging a team-high 14.1 points.

He is the first UCF player to earn C-USA all-conference recognition. The Golden Knights are in their second season in the league.

The award is the second all-conference honor that Peppers has received while at UCF. Following the 2004-05 campaign, he was selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Second Team.

Peppers ranks seventh at UCF with 1,358 career points. He is one of only 13 players in program history who have totaled more than 1,000 points. Peppers has appeared in 121 contests as a Golden Knight and is on pace to match the program's all-time games played record.

The second-seeded Golden Knights will face the winner of the No. 7 Rice-No. 10 UTEP game in the C-USA Championship quarterfinals on Thursday. Tip-off at the FedEx Forum in Memphis is set for 1 p.m. Eastern.
