Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team concluded round one of the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla., in eighth place with a total of 299 (+11). The three-round event is being played at the Par 72, 7,041-yard Golden Eagle Country Club.
UCF is nine shots back of co-leaders Auburn and Mississippi State, who posted totals of 290 (+2). North Carolina State's Brad Revell leads the individual title hunt after registering a 67 (-5) in the first round.
Freshman Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal/The Pendleton School) turned in the best scorecard for the Golden Knights, firing a 73 (+1) on Sunday to stand in a tie for 16th. One shot back of Henriques was junior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Olympia), who stands in a tie for 26th after his 74 (+2). Suh led the Golden Knights with four birdies on his round.
Freshman Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian) made three birdies during his round to card a 75 (+3). He is tied with three other competitors in 34th. Sophomores Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Nease) each posted 77's in round one. Their five-over scores have them tied for 46th.
Playing as an individual for UCF, freshman David Palm (Jacksonville, Fla./Bartram Trail) shot a 76 (+4). The Knights will play round two on Monday and conclude the tournament with third-round play on Tuesday.
