ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team won its fifth-consecutive match on Sunday, posting a 4-3 victory over Florida A&M at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Golden Knights (8-3) were playing at home for the seventh-straight contest.
Each team won three singles tilts, but UCF earned the win by winning the doubles point at the start of the match. Florida A&M fell to 11-5 with the loss.
UCF sophomore Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) clinched the victory for the hosts, rallying for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Clifford Malivert at the No. 2 singles spot.
At No. 3, freshman Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) topped the Rattlers' Simbarashe Happy, 6-1, 6-3. The Golden Knights' other singles win came at No. 5, where sophomore Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) defeated Paul Paige (6-2, 6-0).
In doubles action, Sakey and sophomore Norman Alcantara (Mexico City, Mexico) recorded an 8-5 win at No. 1 over Happy and Artiom Podgainii. Beigart joined junior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) at No. 2. UCF's pair eased to an 8-2 victory over Malivert and William Mau-asam.
The Golden Knights, who are ranked 71st nationally, return to action on Wednesday, hosting UNC-Greensboro. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
