Men's Tennis Concludes Play at Boise State Tournament

BOISE, Idaho (www.ucfathletics.com) - Despite taking the doubles point to start the match, the UCF men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 contest to San Francisco on Saturday to conclude the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Tournament. The Golden Knights (12-8) finished eighth at the 16-team event.

UCF won two of three doubles tilts, but the Dons (10-9) posted four singles victories to claim the match.

The Golden Knights took wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions. At the No. 4 spot, freshman Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) had little trouble with Asaf Cohen, winning 6-4, 6-2. UCF's other singles triumph came at No. 6, where sophomore Jimmy Roesch (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) eased past Einar Hart (6-2, 6-0).

Playing at the top spot, San Francisco's Matthew Berry held on to defeat junior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey), 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.

In doubles action, sophomores Norman Alcantara (Mexico City, Mexico) and Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) topped the Berry and Thong Tu duo (8-4) at No. 1. Against Torin Ching and Rainer Nachbauer at No. 2, Roesch and Sudas recorded an 8-5 victory.

UCF was playing its fourth match in as many days.

The Golden Knights are slated to return to the courts on Thursday, April 5, traveling to DeLand to face local rival Stetson.
