Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Sophomore Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) shared Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week honors, league officials announced on Wednesday. Forest was honored along with Tulsa senior Ryan Henry.
Forest, who is the first Golden Knight to earn the weekly honor this season, equaled his career-best individual finish, tying for second with a three-round total of 206 (-7) at the three-round tournament in Awendaw, S.C.
"Greg played really well for us," UCF head coach Nick Clinard said. "He was actually injured going into the tournament and did not pick up a club for a week. Greg has worked really hard this year and is a very talented young golfer."
Forest opened the tournament with his career-best round of 66 (-5) to share the first round co-lead with teammate Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Nease). The Knights broke the school-record that day for a single day tournament score as they blistered the Bulls Bay Golf Club course, shooting a 270 (-14).
Forest, who shared the tournament lead with 15 birdies in 54 holes of play, finished just one shot behind the medalist winner Wallace Boone of Augusta State, who shot a 65 (-6) in his final round.
This is Forest's second career C-USA Golfer of the Week honor. He picked up the honor a year ago following the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational where he also tied for second.
