Spring Football Practice Report: Day Three

March 23, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Pads were popping on Friday morning at the UCF practice fields as the football team worked out in full gear for the first time this spring. Practicing for the third consecutive day, the Golden Knights spent a good portion of the two-hour practice working on team drills.

The first, second and third team offenses and defenses all got a chance to work in live contact 11-on-11 drills. All the teams lined up against each other at some point in the morning session, offering different looks and personnel to work against.

"The defense is usually ahead of the offense (at this point)," Head coach George O'Leary said. "The offense is still installing things, but I thought there was good enthusiasm today. There was good contact out there and the defense was around the ball alot more."

The team also got its fundamental and individual work in as well during the early portion of the practice. The offense spent time on areas ranging from ball security to reading different types of defenses in the early periods.

The defense worked on swarming to the ball and participated in various tackling drills.

The Knights will work out in full pads again on Saturday with the session set to start at 10:05 a.m. Following their fourth consecutive practice, the team will have two days off before returning to the fields on Tuesday.
