Relays Pace UCF in Second Day of Disney Invitational

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's track and field team broke the school record in the sprint medley relay and grabbed top honors in the 4x200m relay as the Golden Knights' completed their second day of competition at the Walt Disney World Invitational on Friday.

UCF's sprint medley relay which included sophomore Dione Thomas, freshman Feyisara Adaramola, junior Victoria Chin and freshman Stephanie Knapp took first place in a time of 4:04.06 to break the school record in the event. The previous record was 4:12.40 set in 1998.

The Golden Knights' 4x200m team of senior Jenny Rogan, freshman Katorie Stinney, sophomore Sheree Carter and junior Sadé Nero also finished first in 1:39.92.

In the field events, freshman Jessica Francis (Orlando, Fla./Boone HS) captured a bronze medal in the discus with a throw of 135-feet, three inches. Junior Sade Kusimo (Winter Park, Fla./Lake Howell HS) followed in fifth at 129-4.

Thomas also took fourth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 18-11.25, while Carter tied for seventh at 18-0.50.

Earlier in the day, junior Tia Harewood (Wyandach, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills HS) advanced to Saturday's finals of the 100m hurdles with a personal best of 14.62 in her preliminary heat. In the 400m hurdles, Chin made her outdoor debut with a time of 1:03.83 for eighth place.
