ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Playing a nationally-ranked opponent for the seventh time this season, the UCF men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to No. 50 Denver on Tuesday afternoon at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Pioneers won three singles matches and claimed the doubles point to record the win.

The loss snapped a six-match home winning streak for the Golden Knights (10-5), who are ranked 62nd in the latest national poll.

Denver (8-3) took victories at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions and won at No. 2 and No. 3 in doubles play.

At No. 6 singles, UCF sophomore Jimmy Roesch (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) eased past Rav Dhatt, 6-0, 6-0. The hosts grabbed a point at No. 3 when freshman Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) defeated Nik Persson, 1-6, 6-3, 4-1 (retired). Facing Kalle Rosen at No. 5, sophomore Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) posted a 6-3, 3-6 (10-8) win for the Golden Knights.

In doubles action, UCF's lone victory came at No. 1. Sakey and fellow sophomore Norman Alcantara (Mexico City, Mexico) were 8-6 winners against Persson and Adam Holstrom.

Holmstrom is the 19th-ranked singles player in the nation and defeated junior Sinan Sudas at No. 1 (6-0, 6-4).

UCF returns to action on Saturday, hosting cross-state rival USF at noon.
