Women's Rowing Sweeps Duke at Longhorn Invitationa

AUSTIN, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team won five of its six races, including a three-event sweep of Duke, in day two of competition at the Longhorn Invitational on Saturday.

The Golden Knights kicked off the afternoon, by beating the Blue Devils in the novice eight by just under 40 seconds. The second varsity eight continued UCF's dominance at 7:20.10, 14 seconds better than Duke, before the first varsity eight capped off the evening with a winning time of 7:00.10.

In the morning session against Kansas State, the Golden Knights earned victories in both varsity eight races. With a time of 6:43.6, the first varsity eight defeated the Wildcats by 16 seconds, while the second varsity eight posted a winning time of 6:49.6.

Meanwhile, Kansas State edged UCF by less than a second in the first novice eight event.

The Golden Knights continue competition at the Longhorn Invitational on Sunday when they take on host Texas. UCF then returns to water when they host the Petrakis Cup on March 24.
