Novice Eight Leads UCF at Rollins Spring Break Race

WINTER PARK, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The novice eight finished first in its event as the UCF women's rowing team competed at the Rollins Spring Break Race at Lake Maitland on Saturday morning.

The novice eight which featured coxswain Lauren Patton (Tampa, Fla./Freedom HS) posted a time of 7:07.60 to finish eight seconds ahead of the first of two boats from Georgia.

Earlier in the day, UCF's lightweight eight competed in the varsity eight race, coming in third at 6:29.70, five seconds behind second place Jacksonville. Nova Southeastern claimed top honors.

Meanwhile, the lightweight four took third in the varsity four at 7:22.9 and the novice four was third in its event at 7:55.40. The Golden Knights capped off the regatta with the junior varsity four's third place showing in the varsity four "B" race.

Elsewhere on Saturday, UCF also competed at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas with results to be announced later in the day. The Golden Knights full squad returns to water when they host the Petrakis Cup on March 24.
