Golden Knights Impressive Against Iowa

AUSTIN, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Competing against Iowa on the first day of the Longhorn Invitational, the UCF women's rowing team won three of four races on Town Lake on Friday. The Golden Knights finished first in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four races.

In the varsity eight event, UCF finished at 6:40.5, with the Hawkeyes concluding the race at 6:45.4. The Golden Knights (6:49.8) finished 11 seconds ahead of Iowa in the second varsity eight competition. Last spring, UCF's varsity eight beat Iowa at the Aramark South/Central Sprints.

The Golden Knights also recorded a victory in the varsity four race. UCF's boat finished at 7:36.0, with Iowa clocking in at 8:04.8. The Hawkeye's novice eight defeated UCF with a time of 7:11.3, five seconds better than the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights will face Kansas State on Saturday morning and then conclude the day against Duke. UCF caps off the event on Sunday against host Texas.
