CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Facing its sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the season, the UCF men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 contest to No. 24 Clemson on Thursday afternoon. The Golden Knights (9-4), who are ranked 65th, were playing away from Orlando for the first time since Feb. 4.

The Tigers, who improved to 17-4 with the victory, opened the match by taking the doubles point. UCF did record a doubles win at No. 2 as junior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) and sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) held on for a 9-8 (7-3) victory over Kevin Fleck and Jarmaine Jenkins.

The loss snapped a six-match winning streak for UCF.

At No. 2 singles, UCF sophomore Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) picked up a point for the Golden Knights. He recorded a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 win against Jenkins. In No. 1 singles competition, Clement Reix, the 72nd-ranked player in the country, defeated Sudas (6-3, 6-4).

Playing Rok Bizjak at the No. 4 spot, sophomore Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) nearly held on for the win. Bizjak escaped with a 6-4, 3-6 (10-8) triumph.

The Golden Knights return to the courts on Saturday, facing host Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton at 11 a.m.
