Golden Knights Head South for Two Matches

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After eight-consecutive matches at home, the UCF men's tennis team heads to south Florida for a pair of contests this week. The Golden Knights (9-3) will face 24th-ranked Clemson in Coral Gables on Thursday and then play at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on Saturday.

UCF has posted six-straight victories and is currently ranked 65th nationally. Freshman Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) leads the Golden Knights with 11 singles wins this spring. He is 6-0 at the No. 3 spot.

The Golden Knights will meet Clemson at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday on Miami's campus. The Tigers are 16-4 in 2007. Clemson's Clement Reix is ranked 72nd in the country in singles. In doubles play, Reix and Ryan Young are ranked 26th.

UCF and Florida Atlantic will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Patch Reef Park. The Owls are 5-8 on the year and host Navy on Wednesday and Georgia Southern on Friday. The Golden Knights have a 19-6 series advantage with Florida Atlantic.

Following the two road matches, UCF will return home to host No. 48 Denver on March 20.
