Men's Basketball to Face Rice/UTEP Winner at C-USA Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Having already secured the No. 2 seed at the Conference USA Championship, the UCF men's basketball team learned on Saturday that it will face the winner of the No. 7 Rice-No. 10 UTEP game in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8 in Memphis, Tenn. Tip-off for the Golden Knights' contest at the FedEx Forum is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern.

The Golden Knights, who are in their second season in C-USA, finished the year 22-8 overall. Their 11-5 league record was good for second in the conference behind Memphis. UCF was selected seventh in the conference's preseason poll.

UCF concluded the regular-season on Saturday, posting a 77-64 home victory over East Carolina.

Thursday's UCF game will be televised live nationally on CSTV. This year, the Golden Knights went 2-0 against Rice (14-15, 8-8 C-USA) and won their only matchup with UTEP. The Miners finished the regular season 14-16 overall and 6-10 versus league foes.

Tournament semifinal contests are slated for Friday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Eastern and will be aired on CSTV. The title game is scheduled for 11:35 a.m. Eastern on Saturday. The championship will be broadcast live nationally on CBS.
