Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF softball team took runner-up honors at the UCF Tournament at the UCF Softball Complex, losing to the Villanova Wildcats, 1-0 in the championship game Sunday. Junior Allison Kime (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough C.C.) took the loss for the Black and Gold despite throwing her eighth complete game of the season.

Kime (5-4) surrendered only four hits, while fanning eight and allowing the one unearned run. The Golden Knights drop to 10-7 on the season with the loss.

The Wildcats started the scoring early in the game, getting a lead-off single from senior Cassie Koening in the top of the first inning and eventually scoring on an UCF error with two outs in the frame. Koening's run was the first and only score of the game as neither team could get another runner across the plate.

The Golden Knights had numerous opportunities to score getting seven hits on the day, but stranded ten runners. Sophomore Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif./Valencia) led the offensive attack with a career-high three hits in three trips to the plate against Villanova starter Laura Determan.

Determan worked out of several potential jams in the contest as the Knights had at least two runners on base in four different innings. The righthander went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend as the Wildcats won all five of their contests in Orlando.

Kacie Feaster was impressive at the plate leading the club with a 9-for-18 effort (.500). She also added six runs, five stolen bases, and a leadoff home run in a loss to Boston on Friday.

The Knights return to the field on Tuesday to face North Florida at 5:30 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex. It is the first of four mid-week games for the team as it hosts Stetson on Wednsday at 6 p.m. and Eastern Michigan on Thursday in a doubleheader set for 2:30 p.m.
