HOUSTON, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior Katie Fowke (Tampa, Fla./Riverview HS) broke UCF's indoor record in the pole vault as the Golden Knights concluded competition at the 2007 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship at Yeoman Fieldhouse on Saturday.
UCF earned 27.50 points to take ninth place in the 12-team field. Rice claimed the overall women's title with 100 points followed by UTEP in second with 95.50 and host Houston in third with 91.
Fowke led a trio of Golden Knights in the pole vault. She recorded a mark of 11-7.75 for sixth place, breaking UCF's indoor record. Junior Kelsey Bealert (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge HS) was eight at 10-8 and sophomore Brittney McDermott (Oviedo HS) vaulted 10-2 for 10th place.
In the finals of the 60-meter dash, freshman Feyisara Adaramola (Bronx, N.Y./Trevor Day School) ran to an eighth place showing at 7.67. Her classmate Jenny Clausen (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) was 11th in the 3,000m at 10:16.17.
Meanwhile, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines HS) placed 11th in both the long jump at 18-3.75 and the triple jump at 38-4.25. Freshman Ricki Sullivan (Santa Cruz, Calif./Harbor HS) leaped a season best 18-2.50 in the long jump as well.
In late results from Friday's distance medley relay, the UCF team of seniors Karen Kozub and Jenny Rogan, freshman Carley Dart and sophomore Kelly McNeill set a new school indoor record at 12:14.44, placing sixth. The Golden Knights capped off the meet with a seventh place finish in the 4x400m relay as Rogan, junior Victoria Chin, freshman Stephanie Knapp and sophomore Olinka Crusoe ran a season-best time of 3:53.27.
