UCF Women's Golf Opens Spring Season At The Lady Puerto Rico Golf Classic

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team is in San Juan, Puerto Rico getting ready to compete against a 16-team field at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue University. The three-day event will be played on the 6,000-yard, Par 72, Coco Beach Golf Course.

The daily rounds are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Friday through Sunday with each team participating in a practice round on Thursday.

Among the competition UCF will face are four ranked teams - No. 1 Georgia, No. 6 Auburn, No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 15 Purdue. The rest of the teams included in the field are Alabama, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, TCU, Texas Tech and Wisconsin.

UCF started the 2006-07 season off strong in the fall as the Golden Knights placed in the top five at the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate.

The Golden Knights return home for their next competition as the team will host the inaugural UCF Challenge at The Villas of Grand Cypress. Play is scheduled to begin Monday, March 5 at 8 a.m.
