Jacksonville, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team traveled to Jacksonville, Fla., and was unable to hand North Florida its first loss of 2007, dropping a 6-1 decision Tuesday. With the win, the Ospreys improved to 7-0 on the season, while the Golden Knights fell to 0-4.

The Black and Gold looked strong in doubles play, and was able to claim the No. 1 match of the afternoon. Junior Anna Yakimchenkova and sophomore Elvira Serrot teamed up for an 8-5 victory over Catalina Castillo and Natalia Sanchez. But the Knights could not grab another doubles win and the Ospreys walked away with the first team point and went into singles action with a 1-0 lead.

Senior captain Becky Gordon continued to play well when singles began, and was able to cruise to a 6-3, 2-1(ret.) win over Robin Rogers at No. 6. Junior Kyla McNicol came just shy of another UCF point, falling in two tiebreakers, 7-6(13), 7-6(5), to Sanchez at No. 4. Sophomore Kenza Belbacha also played well for the Knights, and almost went into three sets at No. 2 vs. Castillo. The Osprey senior, though, locked it up in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6.

UCF concludes its three-match road swing with a 1 p.m. meeting at Florida Atlantic Saturday. For the latest news and information on the Golden Knights, tickets or apparel log on to www.ucfathletics.com - the official site for UCF athletics.
