ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team returns to the road as the Golden Knights (8-17, 3-9 C-USA) travel to Birmingham, Ala. to play UAB (14-10, 9-3 C-USA) on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. (et). With the Conference USA Championship on the horizon, the Golden Knights are looking to improve upon their rank in the standings in order to earn a better seed for the tournament.

In the past three games, UCF has gone 45.5% from the field and scored an average of 70 points per outing. Five different players have shot better than 40% from the floor, including seniors Keunta Miles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./South Broward HS) at 60.7% and Francine Houston (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast HS) at 58.3%.

The team's leading scorer in 13 of 25 contests, Houston is averaging 12.9 points per outing, which ranks her among the top 12 players in the league. With 967 career points, she is looking to join UCF's 1,000-Point Club by season's end.

Miles, meanwhile, ranks second on the team and 14th in conference as she averages 12.1 points per game. She also ranks among C-USA top 15 in several other categories, including rebounds (11th - 6.6 per game), field goal percentage (fourth - 48%) and offensive rebounds (fourth - 3.12 per game).

UAB had its winning streak halted at four when Tulane defeated the Blazers, 66-48, in New Orleans on Feb. 10. Senior guard Carmen Guzman and junior forward Christon Ingram each recorded double-doubles in the loss with Guzman scoring a game-high 21 points and Ingram pulling down a game-high 13 boards.

Guzman remains the league's top scorer as she averages 21.7 points an outing and also ranks in the top 10 for both field goal percentage and steals.

The Blazers hold a 7-1 lead in the all-time series vs. UCF, including a 66-55 decision at UCF Arena on Jan. 12. In that game, Carmen Guzman had a game-high 29 points, while Keunta Miles led the Golden Knights with 18 points.

UAB also took both contests last season - a 90-78 win in Birmingham, Ala. and a 74-65 victory at UCF Arena last year. The Golden Knights' win - 89-82 - came in Orlando on Jan. 19, 1989.

The Golden Knights continue their road trip at Memphis (3-23, 0-12 C-USA) on Saturday, Feb. 17 before concluding the regular season at home against Marshall and East Carolina.
