UCF Falls to Houston Dynamo

Feb. 14, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Playing in its second match against a Major League Soccer team in as many days, the UCF men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the defending MLS Champion the Houston Dynamo at Disney's Wide World of Sports® on Wednesday afternoon.

Many of the Dynamo's top players, including forward and 2006 MLS Cup MVP Brian Ching, took the field against the Golden Knights, who performed well against the high caliber talent.

"We were able to play a high pressure game and created some chances in front of the goal." said UCF interim head coach Bryan Cunningham. "This was an excellent learning experience for our guys to compete against players who participated in the 2006 World Cup and are currently competing for spots on the U.S. National Team."

Junior Brian Pope (Durham, N.H./Oyster River HS) played in goal, making several big saves for the Golden Knights

The Dynamo are slated to play Costa Rica's Puntarenas FC in the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Championship at the end of the month.

UCF, meanwhile, takes on Swedish team GAIS on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Admission to the match is free to the public. Parking is available in the North Parking garage at the corner of Gemini Blvd. and Orion Blvd.
