ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After earning back-to-back victories, the UCF women's basketball team aims to extend its winning streak to three when it plays host to Conference USA rival Rice on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. The game serves as the culmination to UCF's National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.

The Golden Knights (8-16, 3-8 C-USA) have averaged 76.5 points and shot 47% from the field in the past two contests, while the Owls (14-10, 7-4 C-USA) have the top scoring offense in the league and have won five of their last six outings.

A balanced offense was the key for UCF in its 78-73 win over visiting Houston on Friday night as five players scored in double digits. Leading the way were freshman forward Kristin Thomas (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS), who posted her third career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and senior Keunta Miles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./South Broward HS) with a team-high 17.

After a 71-68 loss to Tulane on Feb. 3 ended its four-game winning streak, Rice rebounded by taking a 65-44 decision at Southern Miss on Friday night. The Owls were led by a trio of seniors, including guard Krystal Frazier, who sank a game-high 23 points. Senior forward Samantha Stovall added 10 points and 11 rebounds and forward Lauren Neaves had 13 points.

A preseason all-conference selection, Neaves averages a team-best 16 points and 10.9 boards despite missing four games due to injury.

The Owls won the only previous meeting between the two squads, earning a 66-52 victory in Houston, Texas on Jan. 8, 2006. Current junior guard Amber Long had 12 points for the Golden Knights, while Lauren Neaves had a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds for Rice.

Sunday's contest is also part of the Weekend Knight Out promotion. The package includes a pair of admissions to the game, two cokes, two hotdogs and one popcorn for $18. Each additional person is $9.

Next up, the Golden Knights travel to UAB on Thursday, Feb. 15 for an 8 p.m. tip-off against the Blazers. For the latest news and information on the Golden Knights, tickets or apparel log on to www.ucfathletics.com - the official site for UCF athletics.
