Track and Field Athletes Earn Season Best Marks In Final Day At Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Season best marks in several events highlighted the final day of competition for the UCF women's track and field team at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday.

At the top of the list was Miami's Virginia Traynor (Westminster Christian HS), who recorded a mark of 49-feet, seven inches to finish in the top 10 of the weight throw. Her effort ranks third all-time at UCF.

In the triple jump, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines HS) took fourth at 39-3.75, while freshman Ricki Sullivan (Santa Cruz, Calif./Harbor HS) just missed the finals with a season-best 37-4.75.

Englewood's Stephanie Knapp (Lemon Bay HS) ran to a fourth place finish in the 800m race at 2:19.56. In the mile, senior Karen Kozub (Alden, N.Y./Alden HS) went 5:12.72 and sophomore Kelly McNeill (Coral Springs, Fla./Taravella HS) recorded a 5:20.67. All were season-best times.

Also on the track, freshman Jenny Clausen (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) recovered from a fall in the first 1,000 meters to take fifth in the 3,000m event as she ran a season-best 10:14.88.

UCF's 4x400m relay team of senior Jenny Rogan, freshman Carley Dart, Knapp and sophomore Olinka Crusoe also performed well, taking second at 3:54.98.
