Feb. 1, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - A group of UCF women's track and field athletes heads to New York City on Feb. 2 and 3 to take on some of the top competition in the nation at the New Balance Invitational. Included on the list of teams competing is defending NCAA Indoor Champions Texas as well as 2005 national champion Tennessee and LSU, which won the title from 2002-04.

Among the Golden Knights slated to be in the line-up are freshman and Bronx native Feyisara Adaramola, a product of the Trevor Day School. Racing in the 60m and 200m, she established UCF freshman records in both events at the Gladstein Invitational a week ago. Her time of 25.23 in the 200m was also a school indoor record, while her 60m time of 7.73 ranks second all-time at UCF.

Also representing the Black & Gold are a pair of distance runners - sophomore Jamie Rzepecki (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora HS) and freshman Jenny Clausen (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS). Rzepecki lines up for the 3,000m, an event that she ran in 10:38.10 at the Diet Pepsi Invitational on Jan. 27. Racing in the 5,000m this weekend, Clausen broke UCF's freshman record with a time of 10:15.54 in the 3,000m event in her season debut a week ago.

In the middle distance, senior Karen Kozub (Alden, N.Y./Alden HS) competes in the 1,000m after running the mile in 5:15.23 and the 800m in 2:15.16 earlier this season. Also, sophomore and Brooklyn native Shantile Blackburn returns to the 800m run, where she posted a season-best time of 2:17.40 at the Diet Pepsi Invitational last weekend.

Senior Jenny Rogan (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island HS) and junior Victoria Chin (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge HS) go head-to-head in the 400m before joining forces with Blackburn and Kozub for the 4x400m relay.

Finally, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville/Raines HS) represents UCF in both the long and triple jumps. She owns the top two marks on the team in both with a leap of 18-feet, two inches in the long jump and a 38-7.75 in the triple jump, an event that in which she placed sixth at the 2006 USA Track and Filed Junior Nationals.
