ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team looks to build upon its recent 75-69 win over Tulsa when it hosts Conference USA rival Houston on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.

Senior guard Francine Houston (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast HS) exploded for 34 points in UCF's most recent outing, a 75-69 win over Tulsa on Sunday, Feb. 4, as she broke the school record for three-pointers in the game with eight. The team's leading scorer in 12 of 23 contests, Houston is averaging 13.1 points per outing this season, ranking her among the top 15 players in the league. She has hit 55 of 149 attempts from behind the arc (36.9%), which puts her sixth in C-USA, and is tops in the conference in three-pointers made per game with 2.39.

Among league teams, UCF is ranked fourth in several defensive categories, including defensive scoring (64.1 per game), defensive rebounds (37.8) and steals (9.91).

After suffering home losses vs. Tulane and UTEP last weekend, Houston's record fell to 7-13 overall and 4-6 in C-USA. Tye Jackson, a preseason all-conference honoree, was the team's leading scorer in both contests with a game-high 23 points against the Miners and 20 points against the Green Wave. She is averaging 21.2 points per outing, while junior forward Ryan Meyers boasts a team-best 9.9 rebounds per game.

In his ninth season at the helm of the UH program, head coach Joe Curl enters the weekend with a 140-120 record.

The Cougars won the only previous meeting between the two teams, 64-50, in Houston, Texas on Jan. 6, 2006. In that game, three UH players finished in double figures, while former UCF guard LaShay King recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Friday night's contest is a part of the Weekend Knight Out promotion. The package includes a pair of admissions to the game, two cokes, two hotdogs and one popcorn for $18. Each additional person is $9.

The Golden Knights will cap off their three-game homestand on Sunday, Feb. 11 when they take on Rice at 2 p.m. in a game that is part of UCF's National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.
