NEW ORLEANS, La. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior guard Celeste Hudson (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Lyman HS) scored her 1,000th career point, but UCF dropped an 85-47 decision to host Tulane in Conference USA women's basketball action at Fogelman Arena on Sunday afternoon. The two teams fought for possession of the scoreboard during the opening minutes as they were tied three times before the Green Wave (17-4, 6-2 C-USA) began to eventually pull away. Hudson sank her 1,000th career point at 12:41 on a short jumper to cut the hosts lead to 17-13, but the hosts regained their momentum to take a 47-25 lead at the half.
The Golden Knights (6-15, 1-7 C-USA) were called for 13 fouls in the opening stanza and Tulane capitalized on 13 of their 16 attempts at the foul line.
TU extended its advantage in the second period, scoring eight unanswered points to start, until UCF senior forward Keunta Miles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./South Broward HS) went on a personal 5-0 run. The Golden Knights continued to pressure the ball, but were unable to close the gap.
