GAINESVILLE, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Top 10 finishes from senior Karen Kozub (Alden, N.Y./Alden HS) and freshman Jenny Clausen (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) led the UCF women's track and field team at the Diet Pepsi Invitational hosted by the University of Florida on Saturday.
Kozub paced a pack of seven Golden Knights in the 800-meter event with her fourth place showing in a time of 2:15.16. Following directly behind Kozub in fifth place was sophomore Shantile Blackburn (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Laughlin HS) in a personal best 2:17.40, which also ranks third at UCF. Senior Christina Jones (Coral Springs HS) posted a 2:21.23 for ninth place.
Making her UCF track debut after a strong cross country season in the fall, Clausen ran the 3,000m in 10:15.54, a time that established a new freshman record and moved her into third all-time in the school record books. She placed eighth at the meet. Sophomore Jamie Rzepecki (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora HS) recorded a season best of 10:38.10.
