UCF's Strong Start Reflected in NCAA Statistical Rankings

BOULDER, Colo. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team is off to a 10-2 start for only the second time since moving to the Division I ranks prior to the 1984-85 season and as a result of the team's solid start, the Golden Knights are among the national leaders in several statistical categories.

UCF ranks in the top-60 nationally in 10 categories. The NCAA ranks 325 teams and UCF's won-lost percentage (83.3) is 31st.

The Golden Knights are shooting 43.6 percent from 3-point range - the fifth-best mark in the nation. Their 8.5 triples per contest rank 33rd.

The squad's field-goal percentage (50.2) is good for 18th nationally. UCF is averaging 77.8 points per game (51st nationally) and is outscoring its foes by an average of 15.3 points, the 28th-best mark in the country. The Golden Knights are dishing out 16.4 assists per game, good for 53rd in the rankings.

Opponents are averaging 62.6 points against UCF, which ranks 60th nationally, and are shooting just 39.2 percent (33rd). In rebound margin, the team ranks 24th, grabbing eight more boards per game than its opponent.

Sophomore guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) is shooting 56.3 percent from the field, good for 57th in the land.

UCF has won three-straight contests and is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Colorado. The team's next home contest is set for Jan. 17 against Conference USA rival SMU at 7:30 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
