Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - With close to a three-month break behind it, the UCF women's tennis team returns to the court this weekend with the inaugural UCF Invitational Friday-Sunday. Joining the Golden Knights will be UTEP, Georgia State and Auburn University Montgomery, with action beginning Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex on campus.
The tournament will be a round-robin format with eight flights of singles and four flights of doubles. While the results will not affect the overall team score for each school, they will count towards the student-athletes' individual records.
Each day will get underway at 9:30 a.m. and after a quick lunch break, play resumes at 1:30 p.m. Doubles will be an eight-game pro-set, while singles will be the best of three with the possible third set being a 10-point super tiebreaker.
At the conclusion of fall play, UCF combined for a 29-20 singles record and went 9-6 in doubles. This weekend will be the final event before the Golden Knights begin the dual-match campaign Jan. 27 at Florida.
