UCF Trustees to Honor National Champion Cheerleaders

Jan. 17, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The University of Central Florida Board of Trustees will honor UCF's national champion cheerleading squad during the board's luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Golden Knights squad won its second national title Sunday at the College Cheerleading and Dance Team Nationals at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The team won its first championship in 2003.

The squad will be recognized at noon in the Key West Ballroom in the Student Union. Media are welcome to attend.

Among other items during the regular meeting Thursday, the trustees will consider approving five new degree programs: doctorates in nursing practice and physical therapy, a master of arts in music, and bachelor's of science degrees in biotechnology and construction engineering. If approved, four of the degree programs would be implemented this fall. The physical therapy Ph.D. would begin this summer.

The board also will consider new rates for various student, housing and parking fees that will take effect this fall. Most fees are reviewed each year by committees that include students, staff and faculty. Increases help to pay for added services.

Board committee meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m.; the full board will meet at 2:15 p.m. All meetings will be held in the Cape Florida Ballroom in the Student Union.
