UCF Football Inks Home-and-Home Series With North Carolina State

Jan. 17, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF Athletics Director Keith Tribble announced the signing of a contract on Wednesday with North Carolina State University to play a home-and-home series in football. The series will mark the first contests between the two schools on the gridiron.

The Golden Knights will travel to Raleigh, N.C., to open the 2007 season on Sept. 1 at Carter-Finley Stadium. The Wolfpack will then play a return game at Bright House Networks Stadium on Sept. 11 in 2010.

"We are looking forward to the addition of North Carolina State to our football schedule," Tribble said. "N.C. State is a first-class university from the Atlantic Coast Conference and has a respected football program. This is the type of game that our administration believes will excite our fans and also help continue to build our program to where we want it to be."

UCF has opened a football season against an ACC-foe twice before, playing Georgia Tech in 2000 and Clemson in 2001. The Wolfpack will be the first ACC school to visit UCF. Virginia Tech, a current ACC member, played at the Citrus Bowl in 2000 as a member of the Big East Conference.
