Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF wide receiver Mike Walker (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) was among 25 players selected to the 2006 All-Mayday Team, which is being announced by ESPN analyst Mark May throughout Capital One® Bowl Week on the all sports network. The All-Mayday Team is a squad comprised of college football's "Toughest of the Tough" and includes each position on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
May and the College Gameday crew will announce the players position-by-position through the week long coverage of the college bowl games on ESPN
Walker tore the ACL in his right knee at Rice in the 2005 regular season finale and had three surgeries in the month following the injury. Following an intense nine months of rehab, Walker returned in time for the start of the 2006 season and put up one of the best seasons ever by a Golden Knight receiver.
Walker finished the campaign with a new single-season school record of 90 catches and his 1,078 receiver yards were the fourth-highest total ever by a Golden Knight. Walker earned first-team All-Conference USA honors by both the league's media and head coaches.
