ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior forward Keunta Miles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./South Broward HS) recorded her second career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as UCF dropped visiting North Florida, 55-44, in the first round of the UCF Holiday Classic on Monday night at UCF Arena. It was the golden Knights second win in as many games.

The Golden Knights (3-8) jumped ahead 7-4 on a three-pointer by senior guard Celeste Hudson (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Lyman HS), before the Ospreys (2-7) went on an 11-0 run to take a 15-10 advantage at 8:50. With just over four minutes remaining in the period, UCF regained possession of the scoreboard on senior forward Juliana Gomes' short jumper. The Golden Knights finished the half on a 7-2 run to take a 26-19 lead at the intermission.

After putting up only four points in the opening stanza, Miles knocked down her first three shots of the second period as UCF pulled away, 32-24. UNF attempted a comeback, coming within a point (43-42) with as little as 3:48 left to play, but the Golden Knights capped off the game with a 12-2 run that included 6-for-6 shooting from the foul line.

UCF went 19-for-46 (41.3%) from the floor on the night, while the Ospreys were 17-for-42 (40.5%). The hosts also had a 37-21 advantage on the boards.

In addition to Miles' double-double, Hudson also contributed 11 points. Scoring in double digits for UNF were senior guard Tamara Hubbard with 15 and sophomore guard Jennifer Bowen with 10.

In the day's earlier game, Georgia State (5-4) edged Florida A&M (5-5) by a score of 66-63. GSU's Marcquitta Head recorded 14 points and 16 rebounds, while teammate Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen had 14 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.

The UCF Holiday Classic continues on Tuesday, Dec. 19 when Georgia State faces North Florida at 5 p.m. and UCF takes on FAMU at 7 p.m.
