Dec. 12, 2006
Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF offensive lineman Cedric Gagne-Marcoux (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Champlain) has been selected by the Magnolia Grid-iron Classic committee to participate in its second-annual game on Saturday, Dec. 23. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. in Jackson, Miss., at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Gagne-Marcoux started 40 games during his career with the Golden Knights and was a preseason candidate for the Remington Award, which is given annually to the nations' best center. He earned 2005 All-Conference USA first-team recognition as a junior, but injuries limited his performance in 2006.
The game, which will give the participants a chance to impress NFL and other professional scouts, features a team comprised of senior prospects from Division I-A schools not participating in bowl games versus a small school roster of players from Division I, II and III schools.
While in Jackson, the players from both teams will participate in a visit to a local children's hospital, an autograph session at the Jackson Mall and also a meet-and-greet with local area youth.
