ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team faces its second ranked opponent of the season when the Golden Knights take on No. 25 Florida State at the UCF Arena on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. The contest is part of a doubleheader as the UCF men square off with former Atlantic Sun rival Florida Atlantic at 7:30 p.m. One ticket is good for admission to both games.

After pouring in a game-high 23 points in UCF's most recent outing - a 75-71 loss to Georgia Southern, senior guard Francine Houston became the team's scoring leader as she averages 11.9 points per contest. A transfer from FSU prior to the 2003-04 season, she recorded a team-high 13 points against the Seminoles last season in Tallahassee.

Ranked No. 25 in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division I Coaches' Poll, Florida State comes to Orlando with a 9-1 record after defeating Stetson, 70-44, on Wednesday night. Sophomore forward Britany Miller was one rebound short of earning a double-double against the Hatters as she posted a game-high 23 points, while senior guard Alicia Gladden contributed 18 points.

Miller currently leads the Seminoles with 14.5 points per game and Gladden sits just behind her, averaging 14 points an outing.

UCF and Florida State have met 13 times since the series began during the 1977-78 season and FSU holds an 11-2 advantage. The Seminoles have won the last seven games, including an 81-49 defeat in Tallahassee, Fla. on Dec. 4, 2005. The Golden Knights' last victory against their in-state rival was a 98-90 decision in Orlando on Jan. 18, 1986.

The Golden Knights (1-7) competed against their first ranked team of the season at the Junkanoo Jam over the Thanksgiving break, losing to then No. 15 ranked Baylor in the opening round.
