Golden Knights Fall in Five to Tulane

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor HS) tallied a career-high 18 kills, but it was not enough as the UCF volleyball team fell 3-2 (30-23, 30-25, 27-30, 25-30, 15-12) to Tulane in Conference USA play on Sunday afternoon at the UCF Arena. Serna was one of four Golden Knights who recorded double-figures in kills.

UCF (5-21, 1-13 C-USA) hit .308 for the match, its second-highest total of the year. The Green Wave, who improved to 13-10 and 9-5, posted a .348 hitting percentage.

Junior outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS) and sophomore middle blocker Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan./Free State HS) both had 14 kills for UCF. Heppert added seven total blocks.

In the loss, junior outside hitter Lorin Lukas (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) totaled 12 kills. Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) dished out 30 assists and senior setter Leah Alexander (Georgetown, Texas/Leander HS) registered 20 assists. Freshman libero Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City HS) led the Golden Knights with 13 digs.

Trailing 2-0, the hosts hit .394 to record a victory in game three. The team hit .324 in game four. In the fifth game, the Green Wave had 11 kills and only three errors for a .400 hitting percentage.

Sara Radosevic led Tulane with a match-high 26 kills. Four Green Wave players posted double-digits in kills, including Bridget Wells (17). Rachel Lindelow had 30 assists and Luna Rebrovic tallied 29 assists. Jenn Miller had a match-high 21 digs in the victory.

The Golden Knights' next contest is slated for Friday, Nov. 10 versus Memphis. First serve at the UCF Arena is set for 7 p.m.
