ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Freshman libero Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City HS) recorded a season-high 25 digs, but it was not enough as the UCF volleyball team fell 3-1 (33-31, 30-18, 29-31, 30-26) in Conference USA action to UTEP at the UCF Arena on Friday evening. Senior outside hitter Maina Heming (Sao Leopoldo, Brazil) had a double-double in the loss with 15 kills and 10 digs.

The Golden Knights (5-20, 1-12 C-USA) were playing at home for the first time since Oct. 15. The squad was coming off of a five-match road swing. With the victory, the Miners improved to 6-21 overall and 2-11 in league play.

The contest served as UCF's "Dig for the Cure" match. Fans pledged money per dig earned before the contest and all proceeds went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a group that works to prevent breast cancer. The Golden Knights tallied 76 digs.

Junior outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS) also posted a double-double for the hosts, totaling 14 kills and 11 digs. Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) had her third double-double of the year (33 assists, 10 digs).

The Miners hit .249 for the match, compared to .162 for UCF.

Amy Sanders paced the visitors with 22 kills and Casey McAnelly added 16 kills. Katie Smith tallied 46 assists and Elsa Reyes led the team with 20 digs.

UCF returns to action on Sunday, hosting league foe Tulane at 1 p.m.
