ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF head women's track and field coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth announced the Golden Knights' 2007 schedule on Wednesday. The spring campaign features some familiar meets as well as some newer ones with the intent of challenging the talented squad.

"Due to the strength of our signing class and talent already on our roster, we were able to schedule some better quality meets than those we have in the past," said Mansur-Wentworth, who is in her 13th year at the program's helm. "I am excited about the new schedule and the team is looking forward to the challenge."

The Golden Knights visit Gainesville, Fla. twice during the indoor season beginning with the team's 2007 debut at the UF Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 13, then return for the Diet Pepsi Invitational on Jan. 27. UCF travels to another traditional venue for the Clemson Tiger Invitational in early February.

The Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. from Jan. 26-27 and the New Balance Invitational in New York, N.Y. on Feb. 3 are among the new events in which the team competes prior to the 2007 Conference USA Indoor Championship in Houston, Texas from Feb. 23-24.

UCF plays host to the UCF Opener on March 3 to kick off the outdoor season, which also includes traditional events like the Disney Invitational (March 22-24), FSU Relays (March 29-30), Florida Relays (April 5-7), Miami Elite Invitational (March 14) and Bulldog Limited (April 20-21).

The Golden Knights also participate in the USF Invitational on March 9 and make their first appearance at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. on March 13 and 14.

In the regular season finale, UCF serves as host of the Golden Knight Twilight for the third consecutive season. It will be the team's final test prior to the 2007 C-USA Outdoor Championship, which takes place in Houston, Texas from May 10-12.

The Golden Knights are also looking to qualify athletes for the NCAA South Regional in Gainesville, Fla. over Memorial Day weekend.
