Boggs Named NSCAA All-South Region

Nov. 29, 2006

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's soccer standout Zak Boggs (Vienna, W.Va./The Pendleton School) was named to the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas® NCAA Division I All-South Region Third Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.

A sophomore forward, Boggs led the Golden Knights in scoring with five goals and an assist for 11 points. He scored the game-winning goals in 1-0 shutouts of Furman and then No. 17 Memphis. For his efforts, Boggs earned Conference USA All-Second Team honors.

"We are very proud of Zak being named to the all-region team," said UCF head coach Brent Erwin. "He played very well for us this year and we are excited about his continued development. Zak is a very hard worker and I think we are only seeing the beginning of the type of player he can be."

Boggs is the first UCF player to be selected for NSCAA All-Region honors since defender Brian Malec and midfielder Eric Vasquez in 2003.

The Golden Knights (6-9-2, 3-3-2 C-USA) earned the No. 6 seed in the 2006 Conference USA Championship, where they lost to host Tulsa in the first round of the tournament.
