FREEPORT, Bahamas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Freshman forward Kristin Thomas (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) scored a team-high 11 points as the UCF women's basketball team fell to Virginia, 76-47, in the Lucaya Division consolation game at the Junkanoo Jam on Saturday afternoon.

The Cavaliers (4-2) opened up the game with a 9-2 run before senior guard Francine Houston (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast HS) sank a three-pointer at 14:50. Scoring seven unanswered points, the Golden Knights (1-6) closed the gap to 26-16 with just under seven minutes to play in the half, but UVa held onto a 36-23 lead at intermission.

UCF finished the first period shooting 9-for-24 (37.5%) from the floor, while Virginia went 14-for-32 (43.8%). The Cavaliers beat the Knights by a 25-9 margin on the boards, including a 13-1 margin in offensive rebounds.

UVa continued to pull away in the second half, going up by a game-high 32 on a trey by Sharnee Zoll at 5:56.

The Golden Knights hit 19-of-59 (32.2%) chances from the field on the afternoon, while the Cavaliers shot 27-for-57 (47.4%). UVa also owned a 44-30 advantage on the glass.

Virginia sophomore forward led all players with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Guards Breena McGuire and Monica Wright also scored in double figures with 12 and 13, respectively.

UCF return to action when the Golden Knights play host to Georgia Southern on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in the UCF Arena.
