JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Freshman forward Kristin Thomas (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the UCF women's basketball team dropped a 61-50 decision to host Jacksonville at Swisher Gym on Tuesday night.

It was Thomas' second double-double in as many games as the Golden Knights fell to 1-4 on the year.

The Dolphins (3-0) took an early 10-5 advantage on a three-pointer by Regina Omoite at 14:33 and hit three more treys in the first half to take a 34-18 lead into the intermission. JU went 14-for-30 (46.7%) from the floor in the period, while UCF shot 8-for-29 (27.6%).

The Golden Knights opened the second half on a 6-2 run and kept JU without a field goal for the first five minutes. They continued to chip away at the Dolphins lead on a 9-0 run that closed the gap to 44-37 at the 8:51 mark. JU regained the momentum down the stretch to retain the victory.

The Dolphins finished the night shooting 24-for-53 (45.3%) from the field, while UCF went 21-for-58 (36.2%). The Golden Knights owned a 42-31 advantage on the glass.

JU freshman forward Ashley Williams scored a game-high 21 points, while Omoite and sophomore guard Virginia Gregiore each contributed 13 points.

The Golden Knights travel to Freeport, Bahamas, where they open up the Junkanoo Jam Tournament on Friday, Nov. 24 against No. 15 Baylor at 3:30 p.m. then meet either Virginia or South Dakota State on Saturday, Nov. 25.
